To register for Advanced Driving Learning (AAC) in a driving school, you must:
have the parents’ agreement (for minors) and the insurer of the car that the young person will drive;
hold the Level 2 School Safety Attestation (ASSR), passed in third class or the Road Safety Certification (RSA);
Candidates 18 years old and over, registered in a driving school, may complete their initial training with an accompanying driving phase, allowing them to gain more experience before the practical test, since they must travel a minimum distance 1000 km. Candidates 18 years old and over must have passed the code test and followed at least 20 hours driving in a driving school. It is the teacher who authorizes the person to opt for this opportunity based on the degree of control of the vehicle, skills and behaviors he observed in the candidate.
Apprenticeship training and auto insurance
Accompanied driving is only possible if the insurance of the vehicle (s) used includes an extension of guarantee, mentioning the name of the escorts. Car owners must ask their insurer when registering at the driving school. The warranty extension is obtained without surcharge.
The insurer may refuse to grant this guarantee
if the escort has been convicted for certain road offenses (homicide and unintentional injuries, driving under the influence of an alcoholic state, hit-and-run offense, refusal to obey a stop, driving with a suspended or canceled license).
The accompanying person must also hold a B permit for at least 5 years without interruption.
